The challenge
A catalog of 30,000+ industrial components, spanning valves, pumps, measuring instruments, integration components, and automation and electrical components, demands more than a PDF or a static list.
Tetra Pak needed a digital catalog experience that gave engineers and procurement teams the ability to navigate complex product hierarchies, drill down to technical specifications, search by multiple parameters, request quotes, and access the catalog from any device, in multiple languages. The system also needed to be fully manageable by Tetra Pak's internal team without developer dependency.
What we did
Brand New Edge designed and built the Tetra Pak Plant Components Catalog from the ground up using Design Thinking methodology: understanding how different user profiles, from field engineers to procurement managers, would interact with the system and what they need at each step of the decision process. Flows and prototypes were created in Photoshop, Illustrator, and Adobe XD before a single line of code was written.
Catalog navigation allowed users to browse across five main categories, with each product displaying detailed technical specifications (denomination, dimensions, multi-range switch status, temperature output, part number) alongside high-resolution photography and technical drawing zoom with the full technical sheet accessible inline.
The Search Tool gave users the ability to filter products by multiple parameters simultaneously: valve type, model, flow mode, end model, city, size, handle, or actuator, making it practical to find the right component across tens of thousands of items.
Quote requests were handled directly within the catalog: users could build a product list across multiple items and submit a request with their contact details in a single form.
Partner pages gave dedicated space to each supplier (Lanner, WIKA, Danfoss, Endress+Hauser, Grundfos, Netzsch, APS, and Samson) with descriptions and direct links.
The Admin Panel gave Tetra Pak's own employees complete control over the catalog without developer involvement: adding, editing, and deleting products, managing topics and categories.
Multi-language support was built in from the start, with the interface available in English and Portuguese.
Responsive design ensured the full experience worked across screen sizes, from desktop workstations to mobile devices in the field.
How we worked
Communication throughout the project was managed through Zoom, Skype, Slack, and Jira, with weekly meetings to align status and tasks at each stage.
The catalog was built with multiple modules in Laravel and JavaScript, structured around a cascade of product categories with a page indicator at each level showing users where they were within the full taxonomy.
