The challenge
SureShield had a powerful and technically sophisticated product. The platform covered multiple distinct compliance and security domains, each with its own data model, user context, and remediation workflow. The challenge was making all of that complexity navigable, actionable, and intuitive for different user profiles within the same organisation, from IT security teams to compliance officers to C-level executives.
What we did
The engagement covered end-to-end UX/UI design and front-end development for the SureShield platform, built in Angular, Java, Bootstrap, and CSS with a component-based front-end architecture designed for reusability across modules.
The design work started with a Design Thinking approach to understand how different users interact with the system and what decisions they need to make at each point. From there, we created flows, prototypes, and a full interface system using Photoshop, Illustrator, and Adobe XD.
The platform was organised around a central task dashboard with a kanban-style workflow (To Do, Doing, Done, Approved), a real-time summary bar with status indicators across all active modules, and deep-dive views per security domain. Each module had its own visual identity and data presentation logic:
BreachShield covered dark web monitoring, network intelligence, and real-time risk information, including protection for corporate credit cards and infected devices.
SecurityShield handled enterprise-wide vulnerability management, continuously scanning servers and endpoints to identify flaws, classify risk, and generate remediation plans.
HackShield addressed data responsibility and cyber risk through transparent cryptography, data movement auditing, sensitive data discovery, and prevention of unauthorised data transfers.
SanctionShield provided automated, continuous exclusion and sanction screening by checking federal and state databases for employees, new hires, and suppliers.
VendorShield focused on supplier supervision for HIPAA compliance, with a unified structure for monitoring violations and alerts associated with business partners.
Additional modules covered corporate credit card monitoring, dark web credential scanning, dark web chatter classification, and botnet protection.
Communication with the SureShield team was managed through Zoom, Skype, Slack, and Jira, with weekly meetings to align status and tasks at each stage of the project.
How we worked
The Brand New Edge team was integrated directly into SureShield's product development workflow, communicating via Zoom, Skype, Slack, and Jira. Weekly meetings aligned status and tasks at each stage. Design decisions were made in close collaboration with SureShield's product strategists, combining domain expertise on their side with UX methodology and visual execution on ours.
Before we engaged this team for outsourcing the UX design for SureShield's system, we had real challenges in representing the data in a way the customer could relate to. Combining the fresh ideas brought about by our product strategist and the design expertise of the team, we were able to redesign the UX for SureShield with a far more intuitive and customer friendly interface. This resulted in much greater customer satisfaction and helped position SureShield as a far superior solution to other competing products.
