The challenge
An organisation with global reach, a curriculum in multiple languages, and a distributed network of institutions, teachers, and students around the world needed a digital platform equal to that ambition.
The system needed to work for five distinct user profiles, in multiple languages simultaneously, and be scalable enough to support regional webmasters managing their own institutional networks in different countries.
What we did
The project was structured in three progressive phases, with proposals, contracts, and deliverables documented at each stage.
Phase 1 included the redesign and development of the go-hre.org institutional website and the first platform access levels: Admin Colega, Institution, and Teacher. The website was developed responsively in PHP/HTML/CSS Bootstrap with five-language support, including an interactive world map where tapping a location changed the site's language. The Admin gave the GO-HRE team full control over institutions, lessons, teachers, students, banners, news, and content, with an institution approval workflow and content management by language and age group. The Teacher access included video lessons, assessment quizzes, and automatic certification with a named PDF certificate export.
Phase 2 added the Student access: student management by institution and teacher, video lessons with YouTube and Vimeo Pro integration, watched-video tracking, and progress reports.
Phase 3 completed the global scalability architecture with the Regional Webmaster layer, allowing each region to have its own manager with a dashboard restricted to their institutions, language and lesson control by country, and independent management of teachers and students.
How we worked
This is the only project in the Brand New Edge portfolio where we chose to contribute financially to the client's mission. In recognition of GO-HRE's importance and global reach, Brand New Edge made a partial donation to Projeto Colega, reducing the amount charged. The cause justified the gesture.
Methodology: Scrum Agile, Design Thinking, IxDA. Communications: Zendesk chat, transactional emails with first-access tokens, automatic PDF certificates.
